1. Traditional repair methods

Hot vulcanization bonding method: it has the advantages of high bonding strength, which can reach 90% of the original tape; The joint is flat without impact; The flexibility is relatively good. The disadvantage is that the vulcanization requires high heat source and heavy equipment, which is not conducive to handling; The process is complex and takes a long time, which is greatly affected by ambient temperature and humidity. Moreover, the vulcanized part of the joint is easy to peel and crack.

Mechanical connection mode: its advantages are simple, fast and cheap. The disadvantage is that the strength of the belt connecting part is weakened, which is only 35% - 45% of the original belt. It is easy to fatigue damage, short service life, uneven joints, severe impact damage to the idler during operation, and material leakage.

2. Repair methods of soray carbon nano polymer materials

The material cold bonding connection method is an effective solution for repairing the scratch of rubber conveyor belt at present: the advantages are simple construction, no special tools, aging resistance and wear resistance are much higher than that of polyurethane belt itself, and the comprehensive cost performance is high. It can be put into production immediately after one hour of on-site repair.

A conveyor belt works by using two motorized pulleys that loop over a long stretch of thick, durable material. When motors in the pulleys operate at the same speed and spin in the same direction, the belt moves between the two.

If objects are particularly heavy or bulky — or if the conveyor belt is carrying them for a long distance or duration — rollers may be placed on the sides of the conveyor belt for support.

Belts consist of one or more layers of material. It’s common for belts to have three layers: a top cover, a carcass, and a bottom cover. However, there are situations where more layers are needed depending on the goods being moved on the conveyor system.

The purpose of the carcass is to provide strength and shape to the conveyor system and is often a woven or metal fabric having a warp & weft.

The warp refers to longitudinal cords and defines the running properties of the belt due to it being responsible for the level of resistance and elasticity of the belt.

The weft represents the whole set of transversal cables allowing the belt to be resistant to cuts, tears, and impacts while also being highly flexible to ensure the system doesn’t break easily.

The most common carcass materials to be used are steel, polyester, nylon, cotton, and aramid while the covers are usually various rubber or plastic compounds specified by the use of the belt.

If the conveyor system is carrying heavy goods, steel conveyor belts can be used due to their high strength and increased durability. The steel conveyor belts are made of steel cords compared to lower class strength conveyor belts that use polyester, nylon, and cotton.

The lower strength the material used or conveyor system installed will reduce the amount of energy consumed for operation while also increasing the product life and enhance productivity.
